Background Info

As a mild mannered chemical engineering grad student for a minor metropolitan university, I spend my days doing many different things from quantum mechanics to fighting for truth and justice. I was born in Moscow, PA(Smallville) and have a wonderful family. I graduated from North Pocono High School in 1994 and have been at Penn State ever since. Below is a summary of my accomplishments during my time at PSU.

Graduate Studies at Penn State

Research

My research is in the area of fluid mechanics. Most of my work involves computational simulation of fluid systems. For my thesis, a combined VOF/Level Set technique is utilized to simulate buoyancy and pressure driven flow of a drop in a confined domain. I have also simulated time dependent flow in capillary systems to determine geometric effects on uptake rate. Below are links to some of my results, presentations, and my resume.

Activities

Volleyball

For the past year I have had the privilege of playing on the most electrifing volleyball team, the Apocalypse . You can go to the Apocalypse page to find out more about our great team. It has truly been an honor to play on this team with people like my wingman Mark Cygan who "thunders" the ball "all day" against opponents and entertains us with his singing. Our setter, Brian Altomari who is always looking for someone to back him up or for another quote to put on the quote page. My brother Jim who is stalking PSU women's volleyball players and has to endure people using our front lawn. And Brian Gealey who I will beat in Table Tennis at some point in time. I look forward to another great season and of course "we will win regionals" and do well at Nationals in Milwaukee. We just need to avoid "quality" TV programs and roads with only 1 stoplight.

LWF

About 2 years ago my friends decided to make their own professional wrestling federation, the LWF. After months of practice, we got together and had our own version of the WWF's raw is war complete with spectators, entrance themes, and announcers. The picture is of me as the wrestler Blade who after suffering 20 leg drops, won his first match by disqualification. Unfortunately Penn St. bureaucracy stepped in and declared the event unsafe thus ending the short lived LWF.

Personal Stuff

I love to play and watch many different sports but my favorite without a doubt is football. I have been a Penn St. football fan since I was the size of a football. I enjoy playing quarterback and have played 4 seasons of intramural football at that position. My dream is to be able to play for a pro or semi pro team, hopefully in the new Arena2 football league. I have gone to the past two NFL regional football combines and have improved steadily. I am still working out to get a stronger and more accurate arm as well as bulking up to be ready for the physical nature of the sport.

Apart from sports my dream job would be to work for the C.I.A. I am also a huge Star Wars fan and I love dolphins.

Coed IM Football

Here are pictures of the some of the best IM coed football teams I had the opportunity to Quarterback and lead, the 2001 Millenium Force, and the 2002 and 2003 versions of the Gridiron Gargoyles.

Above are pictures of me and my best teammate, dance partner, friend, and fiance, Dr Kimberly Wain.
